A Q&A with Dermatologist, Dr Andrew Freeman on commonly asked questions we get asked about skincare, skin concerns and more.

1. What's the best way to protect my skin from the sun without feeling greasy? Shield without shine with Zinc Oxide – protecting you from incidental sun exposure. Combine this with Date Fruit Extract which will keep you hydrated but not greasy.

2. Any tips for keeping my skin hydrated without feeling heavy? Use a hydrophilic (water-based moisturiser) such as Hydrate Your Skin and drink plenty of H2O to stay hydrated from within.

3. What are the benefits of Vitamin C? Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant. It's like a shield against those pesky free radicals that can damage your skin cells. By neutralising these free radicals, Vitamin C helps prevent premature ageing, keeping your skin looking youthful and radiant. But that's not all! Vitamin C also plays a key role in collagen production. Collagen is the protein responsible for maintaining the structure and elasticity of your skin. And if you're dealing with hyperpigmentation or dark spots, Vitamin C can be your best friend. It inhibits the enzyme responsible for melanin production, helping to fade those spots and even out your skin tone over time.

4. What’s the difference between a physical & chemical sunscreen? One key difference between the two is how they interact with the skin. Physical sunscreens, such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, create a physical barrier, making them ideal for people with sensitive skin or those prone to irritation. On the other hand, chemical sunscreens, such as avobenzone, octinoxate, or oxybenzone, are absorbed into the skin, so if you have allergies or sensitivities to certain ingredients, you might want to opt for a physical sunscreen instead.

Both types of sunscreen are effective at protecting your skin from the sun's harmful rays, so the choice ultimately comes down to personal preference and what works best for your skin type. Just remember, regardless of which type you choose, the most important thing is to wear sunscreen every day to keep your skin healthy and protected!

5. What are effective ways to maintain a youthful glow? We’ve already mentioned two key products which can help maintain a youthful glow. I can't stress this enough: wear sunscreen religiously! Antioxidants are little powerhouses that can work wonders for your skin leaving you with a brighter, more radiant complexion. Don't forget about hydration! As we age, our skin tends to lose moisture, leading to dullness and fine lines. Invest in a good moisturiser with hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid or ceramides to keep your skin plump and dewy.
